Plus: mercenaries are not always available - or sometimes reduced to a tiny amount of men even before you hire them…. Hard to say - as it is not easy to calculate… I bet it depends also on the level of your opponent. Plus I keep an 'emergency' fund of about on me at all times. I only upgrade if I have nothing to spend my cash on and I'm not at war. The only thing that might be worth it, is paying extra for an additional castle. It seems to me it is better to keep the cash in my pocket. For I can hire a band of soldiers for a couple of years. Is it worth it? I mean It just seems out of proportion.
